New acquistions for Coaching Inns Group

Coaching Inns Group have acquired two venues in North Yorkshire. The Golden Fleece and The Feathers in Helmsley. The deal amounted to £5m and is part of a £20m development plan.

More restaurants than pubs for the first time

A boom in casual dining has seen the amount of restaurants surpass pubs for the first time. Research released yesterday by AlixPartners and CGA Peach reveals that a net 1,770 new restaurants opened in the year to 30 June. That amounts to a 6.9 per cent increase on the previous year.

Casual Dining Group acquires La Tasca for £25m


The deal means CDG now have 280 restaurants across the UK.
CDG is planning to open 30 new restaurants within the next year. And the group will also go ahead with the refurbishment of 52 of its existing restaurants within the next six months. Mercure hotels new venture

Mercure Hotels are set to open a new site in Doncaster this autumn.
At present the hotel is undergoing refurbishment that will also extend to the restaurant.
The hotel is located on Doncaster high street near the race course and brings AccorHotels target to open 300 hotels in the UK and Ireland over the coming years one step closer.

Restaurant service statistics

HospitalityGem have reported that 87 per cent of diners would not return to a restaurant if the service was slow and what’s more 95 per cent of those diners are inclined to tell their friends about the negative experience. This statistic places greater emphasis on restaurants and pubs serving food to up their game and monitor speed and efficiency of service more closely.

Jail Break For Robinsons Brewery

Robinsons Brewery have been announced as one of the main sponsors in this year’s Cheshire Jail Break.

The event, now in its second year, takes place on Saturday 25th July. Starting at HM Prison Risley, teams of participants will attempt to travel the furthest distance in 10 hours before returning to the Black Swan pub in Warrington.

The Co-operative Group joins Wagamama

Allan Leighton, the Co-operative Group’s chairman, has agreed to chair the restaurant chain Wagamama as it undergoes US expansion. The company, which is owned by the private equity firms Duke Street and Hutton Collins, already has outlets in Boston in the US.

Bredbury Hall Hotel & country Club has been snapped up in a multi-million pound deal. The 147 bedroom Hotel has been bought out of administration by businessman Golam Sarwar.
