Celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli star attraction at the Southport Flower Show 2015

Jean-Christophe has achieved multiple Michelin stars and 5/5 AA Rosettes following a career which began as a baker at the age of just 14. See him perform three cookery demonstrations at the Food Village in Southport's Victoria Park on Thursday August 20, the opening day of this year's Southport Flower Show.
He will also be special guest at the Gala Preview Evening (Wednesday 19th August) and will be touring the show to meet visitors and exhibitors.

Aldi to sponsor Bolton food fest

Retail giant Aldi has been named as the headline sponsor of Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2015. Aldi will provide funding towards the costs of staging the festival, which has established itself as one of the best in the UK.

Now in its 10th year the festival will take place from Friday, August 28 to Monday, August 31.

Regulars outraged as 100-year-old pub is renamed The Cock and Seaman

The 100-year-old pub, which was formerly called The Doric, sits on Doric Street in Seaforth, Merseyside.
It is the latest establishment to undergo a radical makeover courtesy of pub chain AtWill Pubs who run similarly named boozers called The Cock and Pullet in Wirral, and The Cock and Donkey in Birkenhead.

The Lucky Pig to open another London venue.

The 1920s-inspired restaurant and bar group the Lucky Pig is set to open a new site in Fulham. Head chef at the North End Road Fulham site will be Michael Mannion, who has previously worked at Claridge’s, Belmond Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, and Chez Nico, as well as with Marco Pierre White. He also won two AA rosettes for the Lighthouse restaurant in Wimbledon.

The French to close for a revamp

The French, in The Midland Hotel is set to close for a short period in August for a revamp. There will be more tables added plus a tea lounge. Since it opened there have been regular waiting lists for tables at weekends, sometimes the wait can be as long as six months.
